SAMK had eight Bachelor’s degree programmes and three Master’s degree programmes available for application. SAMK received applications from 9,076 applicants in the spring application period, with a total of 18,409 applications for the different degree programmes. In spring 2021, there were 2,520 applicants and 4,519 applications, an increase of more than 300%. The International Business degree programme attracted the largest number of applicants, almost 4,400. The second largest number of applicants, almost 3,700, was for the International Tourism Management degree programme.

– The huge increase in the number of applicants and applications was already apparent last autumn, when there were around 6,000 applications for just two of the two programmes. The fact that SAMK’s education is attracting so much interest is of course fantastic, says Janne Santala, Head of Student Services.

Applicants from 125 different countries

SAMK received applicants from 125 different countries. 98% of the applicants were from abroad. Around 180 applicants from Finland submitted applications.

The following Bachelor’s degree programmes were available during the application period: Artificial Intelligence, Logistics, Mechatronics, Physiotherapy, Nursing, International Tourism Management, International Business and Sea Captain.

There were three Master’s programmes: Sustainable Business Management, Maritime Management and Maritime Logistics Management. All these Master’s programmes are new or renewed in terms of content.

All the degree programmes will start next autumn. The application period for the second joint call for higher education institutions in spring 2023 is 15-30 March 2023, when the Finnish-language degree programmes starting in the autumn will be open.
