Soteekki

Social and health services for different target groups from babies to eldery people

Service Centre Soteekki is a learning environment within SAMK for the social and health care students. The environment mimics entrepreneur like activities in the social and health care sector. The activities are then tailored to meet differing needs in a flexible way.

Operations and services

Who we are and what we do?

In addition to the service coordinators, the Soteekki staff includes students from the nursing, social work and physiotherapy study degrees. The students are doing one of their clinical practical trainings at Soteekki. Multidisciplinary teamwork is at the heart of the operations.

The activities of Service Centre Soteekki differ in some respects from traditional clinical practical trainings. The biggest factor is the strong student-driven nature of the activities. The students work in small teams, from which a student supervisor and a team leader are selected for the duration of the internship. In addition, the team members are assigned a theme related to development and innovation projects that they can work on during their internship. The work will mainly be done through the active involvement of the student teams themselves, with the actual placement supervisors mainly guiding the initial activities. In practice “Soteekki company” is handed over to the students to run as best they see fit.

In contrast to conventional business activities, Soteekki does not aim to compete with other health and welfare service providers in the region, but to operate in sectors where there is insufficient or no service provision. The clientele consists of companies, towns/municipalities, associations, clubs, and individuals in the Satakunta region.

The range of services offered varies slightly from season to season, depending on the current customer relationships. However, the aim is to maintain a broad client base by offering services to clients of different ages and functional capabilities. In addition to service activities, the Soteekki also provides an excellent platform for students to work on projects based on their own specific skills and interests. These projects provide great experiences not only in developing new activities, but also in project-style work in general! The Soteekki internship includes product development, marketing, organizing service activities and evaluating your own and your colleagues’ work. The traineeship requires responsibility, the ability to work independently and the ability to cooperate in a variety of ways.
