

Most international flights to Finland arrive at Helsinki Airport. From Helsinki Airport there are domestic train and bus connections to Pori. From Pori you can continue to Rauma by bus.
From Helsinki there are also flight connections available to Pori. The flight takes about 45 minutes.

Turku and Tampere airports are also possible destinations and are located near Pori and Rauma. The trip from Turku to Pori lasts about 2,5 hours and to Rauma about 1,5 hours by bus. The trip from Tampere to Pori lasts about 2 hours and to Rauma about 2,5 hours by bus.

You can take out a telephone subscription to get a Finnish phone number or buy a pre-paid subscription.
To take out a telephone subscription, you must have a Finnish personal identity code and an address in Finland.

Pre-paid subscriptions are sold, for example, at R-kiosks, certain supermarkets or online by telephone operators. You don’t need a Finnish personal identity code or a Finnish address to buy a pre-paid subscription.

There are also numerous private healthcare centers and clinics in Pori and Rauma. Make sure from your private health insurance company the possibility of using private healthcare services in Finland. It is important to keep the health insurance required for your residence permit valid for the entire duration of your stay in Finland.
In the event of an emergency, it is important to know where the nearest emergency clinic and public healthcare center are located. The emergency number in Finland is 112. Download the 112 app in your phone for emergencies.
The acronym KELA comes from the Finnish name of the Finnish Social Insurance Institution (Kansaneläkelaitos). This is the institution that among the others, grant social benefits on various grounds for Finnish citizens and other nationals living in the country. International students might and might not be eligible for social benefits. As a basic rule, non-EU nationals, who are staying in the country with study-based residence permit, are not eligible for any social benefits, granted by KELA.
KELA card can be applied for, even if the applicant is not eligible for any KELA benefits. In these cases, the KELA card is used only for identification purposes and is not mandatory to have. Although you will often be asked by public health care providers to prove your identity with a KELA card, you can also access public health care services without a KELA card. KELA card can be applied for if the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV) has granted you a municipality of residence. As for international degree students, EU-nationals and non-EU nationals with A residence permit do usually have registered municipality of residence in Finland.
